Athena Kennels

Princess Athena XVII, CGC, OFA, MDR1 is a white German Shepherd Dog. She was born on April 20, 2004.

While temporarily living in Florida (Athena’s birthplace), Athena had attended the basic and advanced schools of obedience. She then graduated from a formal Personal Protection program.

Upon returning to my homeland, Michigan, we found an excellent school for dogs. Cathryn Fields and Donna Zaj, the trainers at this school, recognized Athena’s potential. Since this time, Athena has graduated courses in Obstacles 1,2,3,4,5, and 6 (precursors to Agility courses) and Agility and, representing her school, performs demonstrations to the general public.

Athena’s natural love for obedience and agility has led her to become one of the very few “Drill Team” members who perform at parades. She appeared on the front page of the Macomb Daily’s Saturday edition on March 15, 2008 (see www.macombdaily.com    “Dog Team Ready to Put On The Green”).

Athena has also completed courses in Rally-O; Camping; Obedience (for which she won a “Gold Paw” for placing first in an obedience competition); Nose Knows 1 & 2 (sniffing out articles such as keys, etc); Back-packing; First Aid; etc.

Although Athena is a “Silly-girl” by nature and loves to joke around with people, she takes her job as dominant female very seriously. She loves and protects her entire family (including a bird, a cat, and a puppy). The day that I brought a baby GSD home (see “Lobo” on this website), she made it very clear to us that SHE will take care of this puppy. She has raised this little puppy to be a good natured and loving dog proving, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that she will be an EXCELLENT mother to her own puppies.
