Lobo vom Hexenmeister, BH, CGC, MDR1 is a black and tan German Shepherd Dog. Lobo was born on May 6, 2008.  His temperament test results were one of the best we had ever seen on a puppy. Due to his strong food drive and play drive, Lobo decided to train as a Schutzhund dog (Schutzhund is a dog sport for the “working dog” demonstrating expertise in Tracking, Obedience, and Protection …hence, the term: “T.O.P. Dog”).

Lobo joined a Schutzhund club and started his training when he was 7 weeks old. His pedigree/relatives earned awards in tracking (“FH”) and Lobo immediately displayed his genetic natural abilities for tracking.  Lobo loves Schutzhund, excels at it, and has blossomed into an equal partner (with his handler) on the field.

Many people have the idea that “working dogs” ought not have the love and attention that a general house/family dog receives. We have resisted this school of thought and have provided Lobo with lots of hugs, kisses, and free reign of “playtime” with Athena and the gang. To this day, Lobo displays an eagerness to perform whatever is asked of him. 

Lobo received the degree of Begleithund (BH), in Schutzhund, at 17 months old. During this testing, several impressive comments were made about Lobo (by numerous experienced Schutzhund handlers and trainers) regarding his attitude: “A very happy dog…”

Also, for general information, it has come to our attention that Lobo would probably wash and wax your car, and mow the lawn, in exchange for a hotdog or to play ball…

Lobo’s off time hobbies include: being hugged and kissed a lot!
